Law enforcement agencies have responded to a shooting incident at an apartment complex in Kendallville, Indiana, where a male suspect fired multiple rounds at officers, according to police reports.

The Indiana State Police received reports of shots being fired at around 7:30 pm on Wednesday in the 600 block of Berry Lane. Upon arrival, officers were confronted by an unidentified suspect who fired from a balcony at the Drake Terrace apartments.

According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Brian Walker, "When Troopers arrived, they were fired upon by a male suspect on the upper balcony of an apartment building armed with a rifle." However, further details on the weapon used were not provided.

The situation escalated as multiple shots were exchanged between the suspect and the officers, resulting in the involvement of law enforcement officers from multiple jurisdictions and SWAT teams.
